2016 Prius teaser
New hybrid set to debut with better range, more power
The fourth-generation 2016 Toyota Prius hybrid will debut Tuesday night at 11:55 p.m., and we’ll have the live stream right here.
The new Prius should be a little bigger than the outgoing model and will ride on Toyota’s new modular architecture. The new hatch will probably ape some of the company’s Mirai fuel-cell vehicle styling but with a few less air openings.
A CVT will continue as the sole transmission choice while power from the hybrid setup should be kicked up a few notches. Our friends at Auto News report that the base model will carry nickel-metal-hydride batteries, upgraded models may have a lithium-ion pack. Range should also increase to keep up with the Volts of the world.
Check back at midnight for the reveal.
