[Video] Lexus features the LC500 in promo, moves a mountain image
The LC500 is the Japanese brand’s flagship grand tourer coupe – a good passing of the torch after the LFA ceased production. And now we can see the model starring in an eye-catching short film.
The company’s luxurious range-topping model is able to make the Earth move while driving through the mountain roads in Spain’s Sierra Nevada mountain range. No CGI wonders are involved, instead projection mapping is able to create moving images for the luxury coupe’s backdrop and then cutting-edge cinematography takes care of the rest. Using this technique, the video’s producers create a natural showcase for the LC 500. A 20-person team used ultra-bright projectors to simply display the moving backdrops on the mountain. In certain cases they used stitched images to deliver wider expanses of the roadside.
Then a ballet of synchronization perfection was used to time the moments – as the coupe was doing in syncro its moves with what happened in the background. Lexus first introduced the LC 500 during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January, translating into production form the beautiful LF-LC concept. The LC 500 has a 5.0-liter V8 with 467 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque, while the greener LC 500h uses a hybrid 3.5-liter V6 with a total output of 354 hp.
