The facelift of the GT86 sports coupe was first presented in front of the worldwide audience during the New York Auto Show and now the Japanese automaker has decided to reveal more details about the update.

The upgrades include a reworked chassis settings pack, to go alongside the better looking exterior design – with numerous tweaks also hitting the overall aerodynamics and mechanical components. Among the highlights we can mention the car’s improved intake and exhaust system, which Toyota says has been done to deliver a more linear torque pattern on the GT86 with the manual transmission. Modifications operated at the shocks level should increase stability, furthered even more via the ride and rigidity modifications owed to more spot welds on the rear pillars. The optional list also has some new, upgraded shock absorbers, while the exterior revisions have also touched the aerodynamics.

The cockpit gets a new steering wheel – a 362 mm piece, the smallest for any Toyota – with the highlights also including a 4.2 inch infotainment screen for the GT and GT Limited trim levels. This new screen includes performance-orientated figures such as live G-force load, power and torque readings, etc. So far Toyota has only released the detailed specifications for the Japan-spec model, with European and US versions coming out closer to the model’s market launch expected during the final quarter of the year.
