Toyota’s recently unified motorsport division – Gazoo Racing – has announced they would take the Toyota C-HR and turn it into a race car that would take up the Nürburgring 24 Hours race.

Toyota Gazoo Racing has unveiled its intention is to deliver three vehicle to celebrate its decade of consecutive appearances at the grueling 24-hour Nurburgring endurance race. And what we care about mostly is the fact that one of said vehicles would be a race-spec derivative of the C-HR – the other two being the motorsport equivalents of the RC and the RC F. The endurance race has been programmed between 26 and 29 May around the 15-mile long combination of the famous Nordschleife and the German Grand Prix Circuit. Little has perspired so far regarding the motorsport derivative of the C-HR but the automaker did say it would still be close to the production variant that has been scheduled for its official worldwide introduction this March during the Geneva Motor Show.

We have an image with the racecar and the modifications are indeed pretty light – vented hood, massive rear wing and we imagine we’re looking at a sports suspension setup and typical motorsport-ready alloy wheels. This render is also a very good indicator of what to expect from the said production version – which is going to be produced based on the TNGA (Toyota New Generation Architecture) platform and will have a hybrid powertrain most likely inspired by the one seen in the new generation Prius. The C-HR will also be reaching the United States, albeit there sporting the Scion badge on the hood.
