Toyota Mirai chief engineer Yoshikazu Tanaka has revealed his desire for an assortment of new hydrogen-powered vehicles.
Tanaka declined to go into specifics but Autocar is reporting the company is considering everything from hatchbacks to crossovers. There’s no word on when additional models could arrive but Tanaka believes that in about ten to twenty years fuel-cell vehicles will be about as common as hybrids are today.
In related news, Toyota announced the Mirai has received more than 1,900 pre-orders in the United States. The company says this exceeded their expectations so customers will have to be put on a waiting list until production meets up with demand.
