The wildly popular Corolla compact has received yet another refresh, which comes to complement the Euro-spec facelift and the 50th Anniversary Edition – this time around for the US market and as a 2017 model year.
Set to join the US-exclusive 50th Anniversary Special Edition, the 2017 Corolla will be boosting the equipment levels on the L, LE, and LE Eco trims as all of them use bi-LED headlights and a rearview camera. Go for the SE, XSE or XLE trims and owners will receive even more advanced LED headlights, an update to the cabin and a fresh sound system. Two new exterior hues can also be selected now and the design tweaks include a slighter aggressive take on the front grille. The XSE version for example uses larger wheels, darkened taillights, and also adds a subtle rear spoiler.
All trim models will get the standard Toyota Safety Sense-P pack which includes many safety systems such as an automatic high beam, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert (with steering assist), and a pre-collision system that has a built-in pedestrian detection function. Corolla also packs the standard Entune Audio and Bluetooth and new for the 2017 MY is the adoption of a 7-inch screen for the optional Entune Audio Plus and Entune Premium Audio systems instead of the previous 6.1 inch screen. The powertrain instead has remained the same: a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual, a very dated four-speed automatic or a continuously variable transmission.
