Toyota Has Just Put The Quirky Crossover World On Notice

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter And by “world” we of course mean the Nissan Juke. Toyota is taking a page from the Nissan playbook with this, the C-HR. If this quirky concept looks familiar it’s because the Japanese automaker showed it off at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. At the time the little crossover had an out-there design befitting a concept car, but the C-HR that Toyota is showing at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show is more mature and production-ready. That’s because the Juke-fighter is destined for production, not just the stages of the world’s auto shows.

In terms of design the C-HR looks ready to compete with the Juke. The ride height is high and the overall look is squat yet smooth, with Toyota saying its new crossover has “diamond-inspired styling.” The first C-HR had three doors but the new version sports five, with the rear handles subtly hidden near the roofline. The C-HR is a hybrid and will sit on the Toyota New Global
Architecture (TNGA), which should mean better drivability as it focuses on
chassis rigidity, handling stability and comfort. Additional details are scarce as the production-ready
version is set to debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show next year. We said a while back that the Juke started a trend, and if Toyota is in on the fun then said trend is definitely mainstream.
