The Toyota GT 86 is a car designed to turn heads, what with its sleek lines and stunning profile. But prepare to have your neck broken by the latest creation Toyota Australia just came up with. A shooting brake—or as us Americans call it, a wagon—variant of the Toyota GT 86 sports coupe.
It adds more practicality to the less-than-frugal GT 86, presenting a new option for young families looking for something fun, but functional. As Toyota Australia manager of national marketing Brad Cramb explains it, it’s “equally suited to weekends away as well as the track, it’s a car you could buy with your head and your heart.”

That would be true, except you can’t actually buy it (at least not yet). The GT 86 Shooting Brake is nothing more than a drool-worthy concept at this point. It was hand-built in Japan, conceived by the creative blokes at Toyota Australia, and will likely be tucked away somewhere in a Toyota building until its nothing more than a fond memory.
This is just one of the many GT 86 variants we won’t see going into production. Having already axed the convertible concept and more than likely a turbocharged version, it’d be a safe bet to say that this shooting brake will never see the production line. But we can always dream…
