Toyota Camry to go turbo in the coming years

The Toyota Camry will soon be offered with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

Automotive News is reporting the engine will replace a number of V6s used in various Toyota and Lexus models in the coming the years.  Most recently, the company announced the 2016 Lexus IS would eschew the previous 2.5-liter V6 for the new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder which produces 241 bhp (179 kW) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque.

However, the company’s mainstream four-cylinder engines will continue to be naturally-aspirated but should benefit from a more efficient Atkinson-cycle combustion process and new continuously variable transmissions.
