Toyota 4Runner range enhanced with 2017 TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium image
The model’s lineup has been recently enhanced via the introduction of the new TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium versions, scheduled to become official during the 10th Annual FJ Summit in Colorado.
The new versions of the 4Runner SUV come with subtle exterior tweaks such as TRD Off-Road badging on the C-pillar and bespoke wheels with black painted trim. We’re talking about a body-on-frame SUV so the off-road credentials are top notch already – and owners now also get the cabin with “TRD Off-Road” branded floor mats and faux carbon fiber trim on the center console. Moving on to the TRD Off-Road Premium we’re actually pretty unsure why Toyota declined this as a version, since the automaker only mentions rewarding customers with red “TRD” badging on the front headrests.
Moving on to the core of the modifications for the TRD Off-Road versions, each gets a Multi-Terrain Select system for the “driver to use a dial to select the mode that matches prevailing terrain and conditions, adjusting wheel slip accordingly.” The SUV also has a an electronic-locking rear differential with a Crawl Control function that is capable of selecting a constant speed when driving in challenging off-road conditions. No word on pricing yet but we know the 2017 4Runner TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium will be appearing in showrooms later this year.
