Toyota 4Runner gets TRD Off-Road trim for 2017
Toyota has introduced new TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium trim levels for the 2017 4Runner lineup.
The exterior of both packages is distinguished by black painted wheels and unique TRD Off-Road badges on the C-pillar. The interior has received faux carbon fiber and special floor mats, while the ‘Premium’ edition gains TRD embroidery on the headrests.
Aside from the visual tweaks, the trim levels carry over the same off-road capabilities available with the basic 4Runner. Notable features include an electronic-locking rear differential and Toyota’s Crawl Control, which modulates throttle and brake application while in challenging off-road situations.
Buyers can add the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System to allow wheel spin in certain situations, such as on mud and snow, and mimics a limited slip differential in other scenarios where wheel slip should be avoided.
Pricing will presumably be announced closer to the 2017 4Runner’s arrival in showrooms later this year.
