Drag races are fun, obviously. And our friends at Bay Area Racing have no shortage of great drag racing videos, which makes for an easy way to waste a few minutes on a Saturday morning. That being sad, this one is definitely worth watching all the way through.
A Tesla and a Lexus—two brands you’d never think of on a drag strip more than ten years ago, have taken to the track to see which sedan will be victorious in the half mile. The IS F, putting to use a brutal 416-horsepower V8, and the Model S, with a 382-horsepower electric motor in this trim.
So who comes out on top?
“There’s not replacement for displacement,” the old saying goes. The 5.0-liter V8 under the hood of the IS F just pulls away from the Tesla down the stretch. Seeing as this was a base Model S 70D, it’s a pretty fair race. This would be a much different story with a P90D in its place.
