Second-generation Toyota 86 will reportedly have KERS

New details are starting to emerge about the second-generation Toyota 86.

According to Motoring’s sources, the car will be based on the Mazda MX-5 and use a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine that has a Kinetic Energy Recovery System.  While nothing is official, this setup will reportedly enable the model to produce up to 187 bhp (140 kW).

The next 86 will reportedly be previewed by a concept in 2017.  The production model is slated to arrive by 2020 and cost about the same price as today’s model.
