The Japanese luxury automaker has delivered during the North American International Auto Show its latest flagship coupe – the LC 500 model that was previewed by the LF-LC concept.

But it appears the official premier is only part of the wider story – with the latest report pointing out towards the strong possibility of having Lexus ready to deliver “a number of additional variants,” according to unnamed sources. It appears Toyota President Akio Toyoda is blessing such developments in its ongoing effort to make the both the mass-market and luxury siblings less “boring”. The first version to come after the LC 500 coupe is the convertible – which should be out in around a year – followed by an even hotter LC F that is currently in development. And last, but not least, a hybrid version that would break away from the perception that such models are only for saving fuel (the shattering already happened – just look at the LaFerrari, P1 and 918 Spyder).

The LC 500 in itself is actually around a year or so from actually reaching dealerships – so expect the upcoming version to come down the road later on, until the turn of the decade probably. The coupe in itself will carry its own weight thanks to the all-aluminum 5-liter V8 engine under the hood delivering 467 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque – good for the regular sprint of zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) to be covered in 4.5 seconds. With the LC 500 convertible coming out as a 2019 model year, the LC F afterwards is expected to develop somewhere in the range of 600 horsepower.
