2016 Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Japan Spec Front Three Quarter 3
The Toyota Land Cruiser has always been a rough-and-tumble off-roader with a stalwart reputation, but over the years it slowly became equally luxurious and well appointed. That formula isn’t about to change, as a refreshed 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser has been revealed for the Japanese and Australian markets. There aren’t any mechanical updates for the refreshed 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser, as the luxury off-roader instead adopts a few modernized styling tweaks, new interior and exterior colors, and the suite of Toyota’s active safety technology.

Revisions to the Land Cruiser’s front end aren’t extreme, but it’s clear that Toyota is looking to create a styling bridge between it and the new Toyota Tacoma. Both now bear a similar three-bar grille with metallic detailing, which is echoed with a revised rear end. Two new paint colors—Copper Brown Mica and Dark Blue Mica—are also available, while Toyota adds four new color options for the Land Cruiser’s interior and semi-aniline leather seats. Inside, the 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser adopts a 4.2-inch LCD touchscreen nestled into the center stack. In addition to upgraded detailing, Toyota also consolidated various switches and displays into groups organized by function into the center stack.

Keeping true to its luxury mission, the 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser will now be offered with the Safety Sense P active safety suite. It includes pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, radar-based adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also included, as is a backup camera. For added safety off-road, the Land Cruiser now comes with a panoramic multi-terrain monitor, as well as an under-floor and front rotating view, both world-firsts according to Toyota. Toyota hasn’t officially released what changes will be made for U.S.-spec models, but we should hear more from about the American version of the 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser soon. Cool as this new Land Cruiser looks, we’ll still take the re-released special-edition Land Cruiser 70.
