New Lexus UX Crossover Concept Officially Announced For Paris

After the first picture of Lexus’ new UX Concept leaked out on the web earlier today, the Japanese carmaker made it official, confirming its world premiere for the Paris Auto Show at the end of September.

We still don’t get much in the way of information about the UX other than that it was penned at Lexus’ European Design Centre, ED2, to showcase the brand’s future design direction.

According to a short statement from Lexus, “Its strongly differentiated identity is meant to appeal to a progressive, urban audience living in a connected environment. The UX Concept also showcases imaginative technologies for an immersive driver experience, while the interior marries traditional craftsmanship with high-tech manufacturing techniques.”

It’s also very likely that the UX is Lexus’ way of teasing a future small crossover slotting under the current NX, as a rival to models like the Audi Q2, as more and more carmakers shift their focus away from traditional hatchbacks and sedans to SUVs. Further supporting this is the fact that, Lexus’ parent company, Toyota, recently trademarked the UX200, UX250 and UX250h (hybrid) names with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. We’ll have more information at the Paris Auto Show on September 29.

Joining the UX Concept at the Paris Auto Show will be the refreshed Lexus IS in European-specification, as well as the new NX Sport Edition and the LC sports coupe.
