Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, India’s largest automaker’s first sub-compact SUV has finally registered its name in the list of the top 10 selling passenger vehicles last month. While Vitara Brezza took the last spot in the list in May, it was Maruti Suzuki’s entry-level hatchback Alto that continues to top the charts with sale of 19,874 units. Interestingly, the Toyota Innova Crysta has also found a place in the list.
Compared to the corresponding period in 2015, only 4 Maruti Suzuki cars were on the top 10 best-selling list. This year, the company had six models. In May, 2016, the automaker’s sub-compact sedan Dzire moved up to the second spot, followed by the WagonR, and Swift.
Next on the list is Hyundai; while the Grand i10 came in fifth with 12,055 units, the South Korean carmaker’s premium hatchback, Elite i20, stood at sixth position with sales of 10,472 units in May. Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback Baleno stood at seventh spot with 10,004 units, thus nearly missing the i20. Number eight was the Celerio with 7,379 units.
Toyota Innova Crysta
Toyota‘s Innova Crysta came in ninth with sales of 7,259 units, while Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza rounded-off the list. It may be interesting to note that the Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki’s newest model, was launched here only in March, 2016 and had managed to sell 5,563 units within a month.
Unlike last year, names such as the Mahindra Bolero, Honda City, and Hyundai Eon failed to make it to the top ten passenger vehicle list last month.
