Lexus UX concept teased ahead of 2016 Paris auto show

Teaser for Lexus UX concept debuting at 2016 Paris auto show

Lexus has released the first image of a concept car it plans to unveil later this month at the 2016 Paris auto show.

The concept is called the UX and is thought to hint at a new subcompact SUV from the Japanese luxury brand.

Few details have been released but we know the design was handled by a team in Europe. We can also see that rear-facing cameras replace more traditional side mirrors.

Lexus has filed trademarks for the  “UX 250” and “UX 250h” names in Australia and Europe, and in 2014 one of the brand’s senior executives said a subcompact SUV was not only possible but made a lot of sense. The segment is booming in China and Europe where Lexus hopes to grow its sales.

Expect any production version of the UX concept to be twinned with the 2018 Toyota C-HR (above).

We’ll have more details soon as the Paris auto show starts September 29. You can learn about some of the other vehicles set to appear by visiting our dedicated hub.
