Lexus to unveil two updated models this week
Lexus has announced plans to unveil two updated models during the run up to the 2015 Concours d’ Elegance in Pebble Beach. The reveal will happen on August 13.
Lexus didn’t provide any further details on which vehicles will be shown in Pebble Beach, but there are a few leading candidates.
Lexus’ updated 2017 LX has been spotted several times over the last few weeks, indicating the flagship SUV is ready for its official unveiling. Given the LX’s premium positioning and the well-to-do attendees at the Concours d’ Elegance, an unveiling in Pebble Beach seems logical.
The second vehicle to be unveiled in Pebble isn’t quite as clear. Lexus recently updated its IS sedan range, but it seems unlikely that Lexus would tout that light refresh as a “global premiere,” especially since the newly minted 200t has already debuted in other global markets. Lexus is also believed to be working on a three-row version of its RX crossover, but that would probably qualify as an all-new vehicle rather than an updated model.
That leaves an updated GS sedan as the most logical choice for a Pebble Beach debut. The 5-Series fighter has changed very little since being introduced in 2011, coincidently at that year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance. The GS is due for a refresh, and the sedan certainly has a history with Pebble Beach.
Lexus will answer all questions at 7pm PDT on August 13.
