Lexus Sc Sports Coupe Prototype Spied Front Three Quarter 4
Lexus is testing a new coupe that could be a prototype for the long-rumored SC coupe. These spy photos from Germany’s Nürburgring show a car that looks like an evolution of the Lexus LF-LC concept testing alongside luxurious GT models like a BMW 6 Series, Porsche 911, and Maserati GranTurismo.

Lexus plans to introduce a new concept car at this week’s Tokyo auto show, which is said to show the brand’s vision “of progressive future luxury.” The car is widely expected to preview the new Lexus LS luxury sedan, which in turn will provide some clues as to the design of the related SC coupe. The Lexus prototype spotted in Germany has the same basic coupe shape as the LF-LC concept car, and it even appears to have the same small, sunken-in headlight design apparent in a teaser photo (below) for the Lexus Progressive Luxury concept. A low hood sits across broad front fenders, while the extremely narrow greenhouse produces especially broad shoulders aft of the sloping rear window. A subtle curved trunklid and a flat tail define the car’s rump, with two parallelogram-shaped exhausts sitting farther below.

When they reach production, both the Lexus LS sedan and the SC coupe are expected to use a 5.0-liter V-8 engine, as well as a hybrid variant with as much as 500 hp. There also will reportedly be an F Sport version of the car, with a twin-turbo V-8 rumored to produce around 600 hp.
