It was only a couple of weeks ago when the Victoria Police took delivery of a Mercedes-AMG GLE63 S Coupe operational highway patrol car and now NSW police also has an interesting item in its inventory. It’s a Lexus RC in the mighty V8-powered F specification that will serve as a multi-purpose vehicle and will have an active role in roadside campaigns to promote road safety.
The high-performance coupe has already made its public debut last weekend during the Bathurst Six Hour where it acted as a race control vehicle. It will also be shown at various other motorsport events and is set to be a static display at several community engagement activities, including this year’s MS Sydney to the Gong Bike Ride.
Most of the time, the RC F will be operated by the NSW Police’s Southern Region and according to Lexus Australia chief executive Peter McGregor the car will play an important role to promote safety on the roads. It’s certainly going to attract a lot of attention with its aggressive design and a throaty sound provided by the naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 467-hp engine.
While the Australian police fleet is unlikely to match the impressive lineup of the Dubai police force, additions such as the GLE 63S and the RC F certainly make it a great workplace for a police officer.
