The Lexus NX family could be getting an additional model that has more power.
A recent trademark application has been filed by the Japanese luxury automaker for Lexus NX300, hinting that Lexus plans to add a naturally aspirated V6 model to the lineup. The trademark application was filed on March 25 for use on “automobiles and structural parts.”
The Lexus NX currently only comes in two flavors: NX200t and NX300h. If the Lexus NX300 heads to production, it would likely slot between the turbocharged four-cylinder offering and the hybrid variant.
As for powerplants, Lexus would likely use the 3.5-liter V6 engine found in the IS300. For the sedan, the powerplant generates 255 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, about a 10-percent increase in performance compared to the NX200t’s 235 hp. The Lexus NX300h features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain with a total system output of 194 hp.
