Lexus has given a first glimpse of the updated 2017 IS range, ahead of its unveiling at the Beijing Auto Show.
The update comes around three years since the current model first arrived overseas, and follows a series of mechanical updates including hybrid and all-wheel-drive models in various markets.
From the teaser image, it’s clear that the new IS will not stray far from the current model, with Lexus’ ‘spindle grille’ still dominating the front end.
If anything, the grille may be even more commanding than before, pointing to a redesign for the front bumper and perhaps even the bonnet.
Accompanying the grille will be a new headlight design which may also bring improved headlight technology.

Below the new front lights, the ‘swoosh’ LED daytime running light strip remains.
Rumours suggest a new set of tail-lamps will feature at the rear, along with a new range of alloy wheels.
Lexus has not confirmed these changes, however, and the carmaker is remaining tight-lipped on any improvements to the interior or drivetrain.
Currently, the IS range in Australia kicks off with the IS 200t, priced from $57,500 plus on-road costs. The 300h hybrid model sits in the middle of the range, while the IS 350 is the range-topper at $82,500 plus on-roads.
