Lexus GS update seen in new photos image
The updated 2016 Lexus GS had its official premiere at Pebble Beach during the past weekend in California and has now been photographed by the eager cameras in the metal for the first time.
Sharing the spotlight during its introduction with the 2016 LX 570, the GS facelift comes with a new 200t rear-wheel drive version that has a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine previously used by the RC 200t and NX 200t. It delivers 241 bhp (180 kW) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission for an estimated fuel consumption of 33 mpg (7.1 liters / 100 km) on the highway. The new entry-level model sits next to the GS 350 that has the same V6 3.5-liter that has been updated for the 2016 model year to add another 5 bhp and 3 lb-ft (4 Nm) for a tally of 11 bhp (232 kW) and 280 lb-ft (379 Nm) delivered through the same eight speed auto. Then there’s the GS 450h that has the hybridized V6 3.5-liter and an electric motor delivering 338 bhp via a CVT for an EPA-estimated 29 mpg city / 34 mpg highway / 31 mpg combined cycle.
The crop of live pictures come from known tipster Ferd and highlight the minor styling changes. The most obvious modification is at the front where the luxury Japanese company has a more dynamic fascia and restyled headlights with LED technology. There are also upgraded taillights and other minor changes to the rear bumper. There are also new exterior and interior colors, new alloys, new trims and the Lexus Safety System +.
