The Land of the Rising Sun is home to a huge variety of special editions – just look at the local division of BMW – so there’s no surprise Toyota is unveiling one for the Toyota 86 coupe.
If you’re looking to stand out from the crowd thanks to a limited-edition shade that will jump in front of everybody and also think the 86 could do with some technical tweaks – and live in Japan – you’re in luck. The carmaker is constantly striving to keep things interesting for 86 fans in Japan so the special editions are something of a tradition already. The latest is actually spread in two parts – people can have the Solar Orange Limited with an attention-grabbing Creamsicle color, and there’s also the High Performance Package.
People can combine them to have something that really stands out in the crowd and can also take the track like a pro. The High Performance Package comes with a set of Brembo brakes with red calipers and also has Sachs shocks. The coupe also gets a different take on the 17-inch wheels with thin spokes – so the coupe should be pretty fun while meeting for underground sightseeing of the Japanese mountain roads.
The High Performance Package will become available starting next year and the 86 fitted with it kicks off at 3,394,440 yen ($30,680) with a six-speed manual or 3,461,400 yen ($31,300) with the automatic. The 86 Solar Orange Limited also gets – apart from the shade – black mirror caps and heated seats and a mix of leather and Alcantara upholstery complete with orange stitching. The limited shade kicks off at 3,251,880 yen ($29,420) with the manual and 3,318,840 yen ($30,025) for the automatic – and if you add another 243,000 yen ($2,200) the High Performance Package is yours as well.
