The next-generation Toyota Prius has been unveiled this week, so with a new version coming it’s a great time to bag a bargain on the outgoing model through online brokers.
The current version has been on sale since 2009, and with CO2 emissions of 89g/km, it enjoys low company car tax and VED tax.

This T3 version of the Prius is the cleanest and most fuel-efficient of the regular range. It’s easy to drive around town and swaps smoothly between petrol and electric power. The engine is very quiet when running on battery power.
It has impressively low CO2 emissions of 89g/km and it doesn’t cost a thing to tax in terms of VED. The Prius also has a claimed fuel economy of 76.4mpg and comes with a five-year/100,000-mile warranty from Toyota.
The Prius is equipped with an impressive safety package that includes a driver’s knee airbag and anti-whiplash headrests.
The foot-operated parking brake is a nuisance, and rear visibility is disappointing because of the spoiler across the back window.
The ride isn’t particularly settled on bumpy roads, and the Prius isn’t very refined at higher speeds.
Should I add any options?
Air-con, front and rear electric windows, Bluetooth, and a head-up display all come, with entry-level T3 cars. Different paintwork is available as an optional extra for £495-£650.
You’ll need to up the trim level to T4 if you want luxuries like keyless entry and cruise control, though.
