Lexus has brought a mildly refreshed look for its IS premium midsize sedan to the ongoing Beijing auto show in China.

The current generation of the IS sedan was introduced in 2013 and it proved to be quite a popular model in Lexus’s premium line-up. Therefore, the brand decided that there is no need for major changes in model’s look and kept the essence of its exterior design almost intact. However, the entire front fascia has been slightly updated, highlighted by the restyled headlamps, larger air intakes in the front bumper and an evolution of Lexus’ spindle grille, which now folds back at a higher point, changing its upper and lower proportions. Changes to the rear are noticeable through a more pronounced “L”-shaped LED light guides that are now triple layered, a rectangular chrome exhaust tips and new design for the standard 10-spoke 17-inch wheels.

Inside, the only major change is to be seen on the model’s multimedia display screen that has grown from 7 inches to 10.3 inches, while other minor adjustments include new cup holders, a new larger leather-wrapped palm rest with stitching for the RTI and new markings on the in-dash analogue clock.

The IS facelift engine line-up will remain unchanged with three offerings. The rear-wheel-drive 200t version is powered by the recently-added 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged inline-4, which comes mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission. This unit, first introduced on the NX crossover, develops 245 hp kW at 5,800 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,650 and 4,400 rpm. There are also the IS 300 and IS 350 versions, with F Sport trim available on all.
