Beijing LIVE: 2017 Lexus IS
Lexus has unveiled its updated IS sports sedan at the Beijing Motor Show. The refresh marks the IS’ first significant revision since it was introduced as an all-new vehicle in 2013.
The 2017 model year update is a relatively minor nip and tuck, but the new model features revised front end styling that includes reshaped headlights, a new bumper with larger air inlets and a new version of Lexus’ spindle grille. The F Sport version of the new IS features a few additional upgrades, including a grille with a three-dimensional F-mesh pattern and functional brake ducts.
Rounding out the exterior changes, the 2017 IS arrives with new 17-inch wheels, new exhaust outlets and two addition exterior colors — Deep Blue Mica and Graphite Black Glass.
Inside the 2017 IS gets a larger infotainment screen (now measuring 10.3-inches), “Enter” buttons next to the car’s Remote Touch Interface, a skinnier HVAC and audio control panel and new stitching on top of the gauge hood. The 2017 IS will also come with Lexus’ Lexus Safety System +, which includes lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams and radar cruise control.
Powertrains in the IS lineup will carryover unchanged. That means buyers will have the option of a turbocharged four-cylinder and a pair of 3.5L V6s, as well as the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive.
The 2017 Lexus IS should arrive in dealer showrooms later this year.
