Details on the 2016 Toyota Tacoma have been announced.
The 2016 Toyota Tacoma 4×2 will have a starting price of $24,200 including destination for the SR Access Cab equipped with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine and a six speed automatic transmission. At the top of the 4×2 range is the Double Cab Limited model featuring a 3.5-liter V6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission for $35,645.
The Tacoma 4×4 range be priced from $25,725 for the SR model equipped with a four-cylinder engine and five-speed transmission while the range-topping V6 Limited will have a MSRP of $38,720 with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine sports 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque and will get an estimated 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway in the 4×2 model with an automatic transmission. Estimated fuel efficiency for the 4×4 with a manual transmission is 19 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.
For those needing more performance, the V6 model has a segment-first 3.5-liter Atkinson cycle with VVT-iW and boasts the Japanese automaker’s D-4S technology, featuring both direct and port fuel injection. Generating 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, the new powertrain has 42 hp more than the outgoing V6, though torque drops by 1 lb-ft. When equipped with the V6 Tow Package, the 2016 Toyota Tacoma is capable of towing up to 6,800 lbs, an increase of 300 over the previous V6 pickup. Maximum payload is pegged at 1,610 lbs in the two-wheel drive, Access Cab with the four-cylinder engine.
Packages for the 2016 Toyota Tacoma include: SR Utility Package, SR Convenience Package, four levels of the SR5 Appearance Package and three levels of Premium & Technology packages. Dealers will also have available a wide array of accessories, including goods from TRD.
