The largest Japanese company and the biggest automaker in the world has recently introduced during the 2016 Chicago Auto Show the new 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro.

The model is bringing lots of off-road amenities to the table and will reach dealerships this fall – in time for the owners who wish to prepare for next year’s rough winter. The Tacoma TRD Pro has been developed starting from the Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4×4 Double Cab and packs the known heritage-inspired “Toyota” grille, has a blacked out hood scoop, and matching 16-inch alloy wheels with a dark finish. We also noticed the aluminum front skid plate, LED fog lights, projector-beam headlights with black bezels and integrated LED daytime running lights, black fender flares and Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain tires with Kevlar reinforcements.

The bespoke atmosphere is also present inside the cabin where we found black leather seats with TRD Pro lettering on the headrests, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a TRD shifter, and an Entune infotainment system. The finishing touches included the TRD floor mats and a 4.2-inch multi-information display which has an inclinometer and tilt gauges.

Power comes courtesy of a 3.5-liter V6 engine providing 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six speed manual gearbox or a six speed auto – and a standard all-wheel drive system with electronic limited-slip differential. Also present are FOX 2.5 Internal Bypass shocks and TRD-tuned front springs that have a one-inch lift as well as a special rear suspension with progressive-rate off-road leaf springs.
