I recentally bought an ’84 PU for my son. It doesn’t have the owners manual,
and the chilton isn’t very helpful in this area. The problem is the horn.
It doesn’t work, and I can’t find a fuse box that indicates that it is for a
horn. And no fuses are blown.
Is there a relay that would kill the power, or is there a hidden fuse box
somewhere other than in the engine compartment and at the left kick panel?
thanks in advance
Dave

Quite possibly the problem is inside the steering column. My ’84 PU had
this problem about a year ago. Inside the steering column is a circular
brass ring and on the underside of the steering wheel is a small wiper. As
the steering wheel rotates, the wiper maintains contact with the ring and
thus maintains an electrical circuit for the horn. The problem is, as time
goes on the wiper wears down and losses contact and thus the horn doesn’t
work. The replacement parts are quite inexpensive from the dealer and
easily replaced as well.

On my truck, the horn fuse is located in a small box on the passenger fenderwell
under the hood.
After three or four attempts at fixing my horn (86 4rnr) I simply gave up and use
my finger instead

Its the "hazard/horn" fuse that controls this, it has no relay, its a 2 wire
horn, one side has power all the time and the other is a ground via the horn
switch, the trouble is probably a worn horn contact in the combination switch,
fairly easy to replace and parts are available from your friendly Toyota dealer.
Hope this gets er goi’n

Caution, Clinton governs (rules) my executive order again!
He tells you that you don’t need an "Uzi" to hunt deer, or
an AK-47 to shoot skeet!
Since when is the 2nd amendment built to protect hunting?
or skeet shooting?
It was to protect the citizens from tyrannical and oppressive
government!
This may not be a freedom you excersized, but you shouldn’t
give it up for "ANY" reason.
Watch out for incrementalism, this is the way they slowly
chip away your rights and freedoms.
They will trick you into thinking that giving up
a freedom/right is the correct thing to do with
phrases like "its for the children" etc. or make
you feel guilty even though, you broke no laws
Ask yourself this: Does your kids have the same freedoms you
did when you were their age? Remember when you brought a squirt
gun to school, it was still classified as a toy! Now they get
thrown out for bringing a gun to school, or an aspirin etc!
