I am trying to install Keyless entry into my 91 Celica and I can’t
figure out which wires are the lock and unlock wire. The manual that came
with the keyless entry system says that it should either be a green and
yellow wire and a green and red wire, or a blue, and a blue and white wire.
I found the wire bundle that comes from the door in the driver’s side kick
panel but none of the wires seem to match the description and when I tested
them with my voltmeter, they don’t seem to be correct.
I am hoping someone can either tell me what wires I need to tap into, or
tell me what I am doing wrong with my voltmeter to test the wires that I
suspect are it. To test the wires, I am putting one probe on the ground and
the other on the wire I suspect. The manual says my car is a 3 position
negative relay, so I expect when I hit the door lock or unlock, the
connection between ground and my test wire to be continous if it is the
correct wire.
Any hints? Thanks in advance.

Pull the door panel off. The lock/unlock wires should go directly to the driver’s
door lock/unlock button AFAIK. You can trace them from there, but they may simply go
to a control box and never leave the door properly (i.e. with the color code you’re
expecting). This was how it worked on my wife’s 90 Civic, which is also a 3 pos.
neg relay.

I was installing remote keyless entry in my ’91 MR2. I found a wiring
diagram for the car that said to use the black & black/green wires found in
the drivers kick panel. These were wires for lock and unlock but not the
right ones. I found a computer under the dash with the wires, and if I
remember correctly they were even marked.
The computer was found by laying down Mork style in my drivers seat and
looking up with a shop light. In this position the box was on the right
hand side of the car and it said ‘Door Control’ <I think>.
