I just purchased a ’99 Corolla. Ordinarilly I get a 3rd party alarm
system installed, either an Ungo, or Clifford, installed in my cars. The
dealer is offering an alarm that appears to have a better warranty, plus
at least as many features.
I can’t find any info on it anywhere on the net, so if you know of it,
please let me know.
It is not a factory standard Toyota alarm syste, but a system called IBEX
remote control auto security system. Model Pro 300A.
If you’ve had any experience with it, please let me know before I have it
installed.
Thanks,
Steve

The problem with these unknown vendor is that, if you ever move, or
IBEX (whoever they are) goes out of bussiness, you are done for,
regardless of your warranty.
If the benefit gap isn’t that wide, I’d stick with the big guys.

This alarm company is owned by the same company that owns the Toyota
Dealership. They also own maybe another 12 dealerships in New Jersey.
That’s why they want to give me a lifetime warranty, as oppossed to the
year you might get with one of the name brands. Although, I never had
anything go wrong after installation of my Ungo alarm a few years ago. I
still have a few days before my appointment to decide if I want to change
my mind.

Ah, a kickback for them, no wonder there pushing it. I’d go with

Go with Toyota alarm, it is alway better. If you are in NJ, then East Coast
Toyota has a great deal on RS3000 Toyota factory alarm system. I paid
$299.00 + tax for my 1998 Camry and it is working great.
Mandar
have a pic of it, I am curious as to what these look like?

Great engine, even with the California Emissions kit on it.
My ’83 5 door is in pretty good shape, repaintable if it can replace the
hatch which I’ve glued together with bondo, for now.
177,000 miles, a newer muffler and OEM tune-up parts.
Burns no oil, leaks no water, wish it had a hydraulic clutch instead of
the
dry clutch though (I’m pretty easy on ‘em)
38-40 MPG on 87 octane.

My experience with these is they will last as long as the oil is changed
regularly. Our old 81 has been run with the oil light on several times, no
apparent damage when sold.
Little gold car 1985 Toyota Tercel
250,000 miles old.
I’ve got a 83 Tercel with 196,000. It is the only car I have owned. It runs
great, it burns about a quart of oil every 3,000 miles. I would like to keep
the car forever, but the body is rusting out. I plan on replacing it after it
turns 200,000.
My next car is also coming from Japan a Honda CR-V.
