My compressor just went out on my ’91 truck. That was the third. The
last two lasted a year each, and were both out of warranty when they
died. Any suggestions on causes? Both were supposedly done properly and
entirely. I drive 200 miles per day, in Phoenix, so I imagine the heat
is doing it.
Other than that, it runs great, with 265K miles.
Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe the condenser fan out behind the grille is failing intermittently?
It puzzles me why Toyota puts a rotation sensor on the compressor, when it
is this fan that can cause pressures to go sky high and result in failures.
You don’t have any kind of a bug screen in front of the condensor, do you?

I have a few of questions:
1) when the other compressors were replaced, were the drier and orifice
tube replaced?
2) were the evaporator core and condenser both blown out?
3) where were the compressors purchased from? The ones I purchase for my
customers carry a lifetime warrenty for the most part. Some opt for a
cheaper unit.

If your having that much problem with the compressors going out I’d have a
regular ac
shop take a look at it . The problem is probly something is in the system cause
the
compressor to fail. Before i put another compressor on the car I’d make sure
they did
a system flush to remove all contaminates in the system.
