Hachi – Corolla FX 16 lust…

My son is regretting letting our ’87 Corolla FX 16 be sold to my mom – why?

He saw it being used for "cool" driving online, and now desperately wants it
back.

I told him he could ask my mom to sell it to him, but not to hold his
breath.

So, Hachi, you’re not the only one who wants "Trish"

;-)

(OT:) Hillary: "We have to keep up the fight!"

Listen to the rhetoric coming from the Democrats. "We have to keep up the
fight!" That’s what Dillary said at a campaign rally earlier today.

A lot of people say I’m a RINO because I back McCain, but McCain has
learned how to work across the aisle in Washington, and fosters more of a
sense of cooperation rather than alienation.

And the Democrats call *US* ‘haters’. Have a good look at your own party
before calling someone else haters.

(OT:) The Dems and the Reps have a field day…

On the local town common.
It is really hilarious. The Dems are battling the same old issues and
railing against GWB (rather than against McCain, who may well be the next
Pres), "No blood for oil", "No war in Iraq", etc

The Reps had it right (as usual): Current signs:

"We don’t need an Obamanation"
"Since Dems took over Congress, gas prices have tripled"
"If there’s blood, where’s the oil?"

Democrats still campagning against Bush. We wonder why things have gotten
worse since Pelosi et al took over Congress?

Keep in mind, that I outranked him by two levels when we met, so I certainly
didn’t marry him for status.  But I’m sure some think I "betrayed" my people
by marrying a white man.  Are there black men who would have been perfect
for me?  I’m absolutely certain there are, but I met *this* guy first.  To
just disregard him, despite all his appealing qualities, would have been
racism, which is something I don’t tolerate from *any* race.

Hey, Ray…I duuno if it was…

The two bottles of Techron I ran back-to-back that resolved the ‘vapor
lock’ issue…

Or adding 1/2 tank of "real" gas (no ethanol) in Vermont.

In Vermont, you have to pull up to a pump specifically marked "E-10" to
get Ethanol-enhanced gas. Otherwise, you get plain old, good gasoline.

Certain options: order them with car, or aftermarket?

I am a newbie at this, having bought my last car about 10 years ago, so
please bear with me.

We are in the market for a new Toyota. Still unsettled on the model.
However, the family definitely wants a 6 CD CHANGER and a SUNROOF!

Question: Is it best to order these as options when buying a new car,
or get them done in the aftermarket later?

Thanks.

Any expereince with online shopping for a new Toyota?

We are in the market for a new Toyota. The last car I bought was about
10 years ago and I am still going about it in the old fashioned and
painful way: visiting dealerships in person. Besides time and trouble
of getting there, one has to deal with salesmen.

I am in Chicago area. One dealership (Grossinger) was a mad-house and
the sales guy made you feel like running away. Another one (Bredemann
in Park Ridge) was better. Encouraged by that we tried "nice suburbs".
At Schaumburg Toyota 5-6 salesmen hanging around at the door like touts
in 3rd world countries and all they wanted to know was "are you buying
today?"

So I was thinking, why not shop online? But I don’t know how. In
particular I don’t know how to zero in on the features we want:

Manual transmission
A specific color (magnetic grey with ash interior)
Power steering, locks etc.
ABS (Is extra option of "stability control" useful?)
Sunroof
6-CD changer

I don’t know how to look for this specific combination online!

Sites that ask you to "build your car" confuse me because they begin by
asking me to choose a "trim" and I don’t care about that and don’t know
which options are available with which trim.

Ideally I would like to zero in on cars with these precise features,
have dealers email me their quotes, and then deal with 1-2 that seem
best. But I don’t know how to do that. If you have experience, all
advice will be appreciated.
