1985 Toyota 4-Runner Check Engine light comes on

When the engine is started the check engine light stays out. The check
engine light only comes on when accelerating or revving the engine at 2000
RPM or higher. After driving for 10 minutes the exhaust starts to smelling
like unburned fuel and then the engine just stops firing. If I let it sit
for 5 minutes, it starts up and may not do it again but sometimes it does.
The code flashes a 12 count and then a 4 count. What do the codes mean?
What should I check from here? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Prices for Toyota 4Runner

I was at a dealer here in Austin TX tonight discussing the price
on a 1998 Toyota 4Runner Limited.  All they were willing to do
is take 1K off the MSRP.  I walked out.  I know these 4Runners
are popular but I would expect a much better price especially
since they are now 1 year old.

Any other experiences out there?  What is a fair price on a 4Runner
these days?

Thanks,
Jerry Vauk:-)

More Qs from a prospective RAV owner

I’ve pretty much decided to trade my ’94 Jeep in and get a 4 door RAV.
I still have a few Qs.

Are the dual moonroofs only available for 2-door RAVS?

Which is better.  Window tinting or privacy glass?

How is the wind noise on the highway at 75 MPH?
How well does the cruise control work at those speeds?

Anybody have any good info/experience with extended warranty and
service plans for the RAV?

Thanks again for the help.

WTB: 82-85 Celica Liftback

Im looking for an 82-85 Celica in not so hot condition in the Southern Tier,
NY/Northern Tier, Pa area. Looking basically for a fixer-upper. Doesnt
necessarily have to run, but it’d be nice if it did. Looking to spend in the
1-700 dollar range.
If anyone knows of anything let me know. Nad…@aol.com
Thanx,
Dan

Where do I mount rear speakers in '88 4Runner???

Subject pretty much says it all. I’ve got some 5.25" speakers for the
rear of my 4Runner (the older 2 door model with fiberglass capper). I
saw what appeared to be speaker ‘vents’ in the rear most plastic
panels back in the bed area behind the rear seats. But those plastic
panels seem awfully flimsey to mount speakers too.

The other place might be in the panels right there next to the rear
seats (close to a passengers elbow) which is where crutchfield says to
put them.

Anybody have any suggestions or experience?

Thanks,
Todd (to…@world-net.net)
