Hiya All
i have a 90 corolla auto with a 4af engine. I will be approaching 100k
by summer and am wondering if there is anything that I should get done
to the car by a main dealer. I have done the following basic servicing
and the car still runs like a dream.
1. Timing belt changed at 60,000 miles
2. Oil every 6000 miles ( Mobil 1 0-40)
3. Fuel filter every 12,000 as opposed to 24,000-(recommended by toyota)
4. Plugs changed every 12,000 ( still light brown with few deposits )
5. PAS belt and water pmp belt changed at 90,000 miles
6. Air filter every 12,000 miles
7. Brake fluids every 24,0000
I have not looked at suspension or valve clearances yet and would
appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on anything you think
needs to be done at my mileage/or I should look out for. It has to keep
running like a dream…..
Cheers

I have a 90 Corolla with a 4AF engine. Need to change fluid but unsure
about the following things:
What is the difference between normal transmission fluid and final drive
fluid????
Where are the drain plugs for both fluids and the methods of refill????
I have the Haynes manual but it only shows for manual trans.
What mileage should these be changed at????
My dealer told me ‘never’ as it is a sealed unit…..but I don’t agree.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Once and only once, my Camry had a LOT of trouble starting. It took several
tries and a lot of pumping (which I NEVER have to do). The only thing I can
figure is that it happened because I didn’t use it for 4 days. It is used
almost every day and has 75,000 miles. Other than that, the car runs
flawlessly.
Any ideas?

hi there,
sometimes the following weird thing happens on my 91 Celica:
the little red battery light flares up for a moment on the dashboard, and at
the same time my headlights and dashboard lights "blink/flicker/glimmer" a
little bit. it does not have any effect on the engine performance though,
and appears randomly.
is it possible, that one of the relays is dieing?
any ideas, what the problem might be?
thanks a lot, spank

I am trying to install Keyless entry into my 91 Celica and I can’t
figure out which wires are the lock and unlock wire. The manual that came
with the keyless entry system says that it should either be a green and
yellow wire and a green and red wire, or a blue, and a blue and white wire.
I found the wire bundle that comes from the door in the driver’s side kick
panel but none of the wires seem to match the description and when I tested
them with my voltmeter, they don’t seem to be correct.
I am hoping someone can either tell me what wires I need to tap into, or
tell me what I am doing wrong with my voltmeter to test the wires that I
suspect are it. To test the wires, I am putting one probe on the ground and
the other on the wire I suspect. The manual says my car is a 3 position
negative relay, so I expect when I hit the door lock or unlock, the
connection between ground and my test wire to be continous if it is the
correct wire.
Any hints? Thanks in advance.

Need to remove the door panels in order to lubricate the internal
window mechanism cranks on my 86 pickup.
Looking for proper method to remove levers and panels so as not to
break the window crank handles or otherwise damage the snaps.

I recentally bought an ’84 PU for my son. It doesn’t have the owners manual,
and the chilton isn’t very helpful in this area. The problem is the horn.
It doesn’t work, and I can’t find a fuse box that indicates that it is for a
horn. And no fuses are blown.
Is there a relay that would kill the power, or is there a hidden fuse box
somewhere other than in the engine compartment and at the left kick panel?
thanks in advance
Dave
